DCH CEO Resigns

Decatur County Hospital Chief Executive Officer Greg Boattenhamer has tendered his resignation at the hospital, effective May 25.

“This has been a difficult decision for me, but given some personal considerations, I believe this to be the best decision at this time for me and for my family, ”Boattenhamer said. “While my tenure at DCH has been shorter than I originally envisioned, over the past year DCH staff have worked together to improve quality, set forth a new strategic vision, and position the hospital for any healthcare challenges that may lie ahead.”

Boattenhamer cited the adoption of a new three-year strategic plan, the acquisition of a state-of-the-art ambulance, collaborative efforts with other area healthcare providers, and new services such as Senior Life Solutions as notable accomplishments over the past year.

“Mr. Boattenhamer brought a renewed focus on overall hospital operations and quality initiatives to DCH and we are sorry to see him go,” said Hospital Board Chair Linda Chastain. “We appreciate his efforts to improve hospital culture as well as his willingness to assist us in making a smooth leadership transition.”

Decatur County Hospital is affiliated with Mercy Health Network, which will also be involved in the leadership change. DCH was recently named one of the top 100 critical access hospitals in the nation.
