Decatur County Hospital to change the way medications are passed.
Starting November 1, 2013, Decatur County Hospital will change the way observation patients are given their daily medications. Patients will no longer be able to bring in their daily home medications for the hospital nursing staff to give to them. If the person is admitted to the hospital, the nursing staff will give them the hospital’s supply of medicine; unless it is a multi-dose medication (i.e. insulin, eye drops, or inhalers). We do however ask you to bring your home medications with you to the hospital, so we are aware of what you are taking, we will then send them back home with a family member or loved one for safe keeping; with the exception of the multi-dose medications (insulin, eye drops, inhalers). You will be charged for these medications. Business Office staff can help you with your Medicare Part D forms so that you may be reimbursed for these medications. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact administration 641-446-4871.
