Doug Moffett, center, receives IHA Heroes Award from Gary Riedmann, left Board Chairman of the IHA, and Lynn Milnes Decatur County Hospital CEO, right.
Local Emergency Medical Technician recently recognized with an outstanding award by the Iowa Hospital Association. Doug Moffett, EMT at the Decatur County Hospital was the recipient of the Iowa Hospital Heroes Award. He received his award from Gary Riedmann, CEO of St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll and Board Chair of the Iowa Hospital Association during ceremonies held at the Marriott in downtown Des Moines on October 6th.
In March 2011, Decatur County Hospital was called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident with seven people involved and serious injuries. Now as the fire chief in Leon and the surrounding community, Doug was preparing an old house to burn down for teaching purposes for the volunteer fire fighters when the call went out Doug canceled his plans and volunteered to go to the scene of the accident. He managed four patients coming back to the hospital and took excellent care of them.
Doug was awarded the Above and Beyond Honor from Mercy for the wonderful job he did in March. We at Decatur County are very proud of Doug.
Doug continues to serve Decatur County by doing a lot of volunteer work for his neighborhood and community. |
