My recent stay in Decatur County Hospital made me feel as if I was recuperating in a friends home. Everyone I came in contact with went out of the way to make me feel like they cared about my opinion and wanted to work with me. The food was not your regular hospital food either. It was very tasty. I am very glad I made the decision to come here for my rehab.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone at the Decatur County Hospital for taking such wonderful care of my husband Victor Erickson when he was in Cardiac distress. We were on our way to Osceola, IA to stay at the RV Park, when my husband had to pull over. I got behind the wheel and pulled into Kum & Go in Lamoni, Iowa. I gave Vic a nitro and ran into the station to call 911. I ran back and gave him another nitro. He was vomiting. The EMT's got there, checked his vitals and put him into the ambulance. They took him to Decatur County hospital. He was taken care of there until the helicopter came to take him to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. I was 13 miles from the motorhome and our car. They sent Ken Byler and Michael Donaldson, their maintenance men to help me. They drove the motorhome and my car to Osceola and got me parked and hooked up. Ken drove my car and Michael followed until they got me to Mercy. Ken and his wife Karen and Michael and his wife Sarah both checked back with us at the motorhome when we got Vic back home. I was so impressed ath the kindness everyone showed at Decatur County Hospital

When I came to Decatur County Hospital from Des Moines Hospital I felt like I was coming home. The staff is very caring and will go that extra mile. The high light of my recovery was the wonderful care I received from the physical therapists. They are top notch professionals.
