10 year old Madison Leahy donates to DCH Emergency Room

Public Relations Director Tammy Heintz, Med/Surg-ED Director Denise Elefson, Housekeeper Star Bethards, Safety Officer Troy Armstrong, Ambulance Director Kevin Frost, CEO Suzanne Cooner and Cardiopulmonary Director Jessica Sullivan pause for a photo with Madison during her visit to the Decatur County Hospital’s Emergency Department to drop off her generous donation.

Ten year old Madison Leahy, daughter of Jon and Terri Leahy, wanted to do some-thing for sick kids who came to the emergency room. Madison said “I wanted to donate stuffed animals to the hospital so kids in the emergency room wouldn’t feel scared or lonely. My cousin was in the hospital once. He got a stuffed ani-mal and it helped him calm down. I collected the stuffed animals by friends and family bringing them to my birthday party instead of a present. I would like to thank everybody that donated a stuffed animal.”

Through Madison’s act of kindness, children who come for care at the Decatur County Hospital’s Emergency Department will be able to choose a brand new stuffed animal to take home with them.

Decatur County Hospital would like to thank Madison for her special act of kindness and for making a difference in the lives of other kids!
