Decatur County Hospital is proud to announce an addition to our Surgical services. Dr. Folkers will begin offering Plastic and Hand Surgery services on August 7th. Surgical procedures will be on the 1st Monday of each month (excluding holidays). In September, Dr. Folkers will be at DCH on Friday, September 22nd.
Dr. Folkers received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Iowa State University and his medical degree from Des Moines University Medical School.
Dr. Folkers completed General Surgery Residency at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines and continued his training in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Hand Surgery at South Pointe Hospital/Cleveland Clinic Health System. He is a Double Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and recently was inducted into the Fellowship of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, one of the highest honors of a practicing surgeon.
Services offered at DCH will include:
- Breast reconstruction after (or during) mastectomy
- Breast contouring
- Body contouring
- Remove of excess skin resulting from weight loss
- Facial rejuvenation and contouring
- Repair after traumatic injury or fracture to the face
- Various repairs to the hand, including tendon and nerve repair and repair after a traumatic injury or fracture
- Ear surgery
- Skin evaluations and cancer treatments
- Wound and burn evaluation and treatment
Surgery procedures with Dr. Folkers must be scheduled through Ann Nelson, PA-C, available at DCH the 3rd Wednesday of each month; or by consult with Dr. Folkers at his Des Moines office. For more information, contact our Outpatient Clinic at 641-446-2285.
