EMERGENCY ROOM

The Emergency Room at Decatur County Hospital is a level IV Trauma Center that serves approximately 2,500 patients every year. The ER is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. From minor illnesses to life threatening conditions, our staff will be here to care for you and your family any time there is an emergency. An on-site helipad is also available for patients who may need to be transported to a medical center via air ambulance (weather permitting). Patients may also be transported by Decatur County Ambulance. If you are experiencing an emergency, please dial 911.

EMERGENCY SERVICES

The Decatur County Hospital EMS Department is a hospital-based ambulance service providing 911 coverage for all of Decatur County and mutual–aid to surrounding services. We are also the only emergency transport service in Decatur County. Our service has been providing emergency care and transport for the ill and injured since 1970. We have three ambulances, two of which are ALS capable. Our ambulance service is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We also have a helipad at the hospital that gives us the ability to utilize an air ambulance service for rapid transport when needed.

DCH EMS staff include:

  • EMTs
  • AEMTs
  • Paramedics
  • Critical Care Paramedics

In addition to the above certifications, our staff are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), International Trauma Life Support (ITLS),  Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS), and Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS).

On average, our service runs roughly 850 calls a year, including:

  • 911 calls
  • Inter-facility emergency, non-emergency, and critical care transfers
  • EMS coverage of community events
