Expert Diabetes Care. Focused on You.

You stand in the grocery aisle wondering which foods to choose. You pack your medication before leaving for the day. You check your blood sugar and wonder why the number is different when you feel like you followed the same routine.

Living with diabetes can mean making decisions about your health throughout the day, often while balancing work, family, and everything else on your calendar. Whether you are adjusting to a recent diagnosis or have managed diabetes for years, you deserve support that makes those decisions feel more manageable.

At Decatur County Hospital, our approach starts with you. Your questions, your daily routine, and the goals that matter in your life.

Specialized care, right here in Leon

Dr. Haytham Kawji, MD, a board-certified endocrinologist, provides specialized diabetes care at DCH. He can evaluate your condition and help guide your treatment.

Having that expertise available locally means you can seek specialized care without adding a long drive to an already busy day. It also gives you a place to turn when you have questions about what comes next.

Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed by a new diagnosis. Maybe your routine has changed, or you want help understanding your treatment. Those concerns deserve a conversation.

Making daily management more understandable

Treatment is one part of diabetes care. Knowing how to manage your health between appointments matters, too.

Linda Klejch, RD, LD, a Certified Diabetic Educator and dietitian, brings more than 20 years of experience to helping patients navigate life with diabetes. Her individualized services include guidance on nutrition, medications, physical activity, and glucose-management equipment, including continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps. She can also help patients explore access to affordable medications.

That support can make room for the practical questions you may have been hesitant to ask. How do you approach meals when you work an unpredictable schedule? What information should you bring to an appointment? Where do you begin when everything feels new?

You should feel comfortable asking questions and discussing the parts of your routine that are difficult.

Take the next step with support

You do not have to wait until you have everything figured out to ask for help. Your next step may simply be a conversation about where you are today and what support could help you move forward.

A provider referral is required for Linda’s diabetes education services, and referrals can come from any provider.
