Meal Service Announced for Diabetic Education Program Participants

If you are living with diabetes, the experts at Decatur County Hospital are here to help you during every step in your journey. From diagnosis, to treatment, to personalized lifestyle management, our caring experts can provide the support you deserve. That’s why we’ve added an Endocrinologist, Dr. Haytham Kawji, to our team, along with starting a Certified Diabetic Education Program with Linda Klejch, Certified Diabetes Educator.

We know that managing your diabetes is your top priority every day. We also know that you don’t want your diabetes to completely change the way you live and the activities you enjoy. Your busy lifestyle shouldn’t keep you from getting the types of healthy meals you need to help keep your blood sugar at a consistent and safe level. At Decatur County Hospital, we want to help you stay on track by providing meals that you can cook at home, and you can rest assured you are getting healthy, tasty meals that meet your needs.

If you are, or become, a participant in our diabetic education program, you can take advantage of this meal service as an added benefit. When you enroll, you will receive meal choices each week, and you can select the meals you want for the following week. Once you make a selection, we’ll prepare the meals, place them in microwave or baking safe containers, and let you know when they are ready to pick up. When you’re ready to eat, just heat according to the instructions provided and enjoy your healthy meal! Meals are a standard cost of $9.00 each. To get started, let Linda know you’re interested at your next appointment, and she’ll get you the information you need to make your first order.

In addition to help with planning meals, Linda provides personalized services to help you manage your daily life. Linda can help you with managing your medications, incorporating healthy fitness activities into your daily routine, finding ways to reduce your risk of disease progression, utilizing equipment for glucose management (glucose meters, continuous glucose monitors, and insulin pumps), and getting access to affordable medications.

In order to see Linda for diabetic education, you will need a referral from a provider. If you are looking for a provider to help manage your diabetes, our board-certified endocrinologist, Dr. Kawji, can review your case and provide the specialized care you deserve. But, we can accept referrals from ANY provider. Depending on your insurance, the cost for these services may be available at low or no out of pocket cost.
