DCH Welcomes New Full-Time Providers

Beginning in February, Decatur County Hospital will welcome two new physicians to continue to uphold our mission to “deliver exceptional care, close to home.”

Starting February 1, Dr. Erika Brown will join the DCH management team as Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Brown joins us after serving at the Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. Dr. Brown has served in family clinics and medical centers since 2013, after completing her medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, and residency at Quad Cities Genesis Family Medicine and Iowa Lutheran Hospital Family Medicine. Dr. Brown will provide support to our medical staff, explore possible new service lines, provide service to in-patients, and provide service in our Emergency Medicine Department.

On February 22, Dr. Ryan Van Maanen will join DCH as a full-time Emergency Department physician, and will care for in-patients. Dr. Van Maanen has nearly a decade of experience in Emergency Medicine. Dr. Van Maanen received his medical degree from Des Moines University, and completed his residency at Broadlawns Medical Center. He has served at multiple hospitals and health centers in Emergency Departments, and comes to DCH most recently from Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

Decatur County Hospital CEO Mike Johnston said “we are very fortunate to have been able to engage the services of these two physicians in such a short time frame.  Their knowledge, skills, and experience will greatly enhance and sharpen our focus on providing the highest quality of care possible for our patients and the community we are honored to serve.”
