Hospital Board Members Receive Trustee Education Certification

As evidence of the continued commitment of the Decatur County Hospital Board of Trustees, several Trustees have completed education courses to increase their knowledge of healthcare governance, leadership, and best practices. The Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) provides a Trustee Education Certification (TEC) for hospital trustees. The TEC program requires board members to complete twelve (12) continuing board education hours made up of seminars, online learning opportunities, leadership forums, and other similar opportunities related to the duties and responsibilities of hospital board members.

Three (3) DCH Trustees; Linda Chastain, Amy Sherman, and Sheri Frost have completed the program. A fourth, Denise Elefson, is currently completing the program will soon be certified. DCH CEO Mike Johnston stated, “This certification is a testament to the commitment of these trustees to improve their skills in governance and leadership so as to better serve the hospital and community. We sincerely thank them for their service and dedication.”
